The Camillian Sisters in Mati

Camillian Hospital Based Community – St. Camillus Hospital, Madang, Mati City, Davao Oriental

The Sisters are now working with the general services and community based health care program.  Sr. Adeline Labutan is assigned in the property management and inventory, Sr. Lourdes Custodio, works with the purchase department and Sr. Leandrina Aclan, manages the community based health care program and the mobile clinic for the remote areas’ services on medical, laboratory exams and medicine distribution.  This is to ensure the needs of the poor sick who cannot afford to go to Clinics for check due to distance.

 


Sr. Leandrina is organizing the Community Based Health Care Program with its following components:

  1. Clinic/treatment:  Provides the services on actual acupuncture, acupressure, ventosa, moxa, compress and other treatments to the guests of the Center needing these services; study on how to handle patients.

  2. Herbal processing: Organizes the processing of herbal medicine: plans the things needed for the production of the medicinal herbs; coordinates with the bio-dynamic farming and requests the raw herbal plant materials required in the preparation of the herbal medicines; is in-charge of the purchase of other equipments or ingredients required.

  3. Biodynamic farming: takes care of the management of the herbal medicinal plants and the production of healthy food  such as bananas, vegetables - in the center and in the partner communities; provides training to farmers in the villages to equip them with the technology on bio-dynamic and assists them in the output of practicing the lesson in actual production of rice, vegetables, and other agricultural activities for a chemical free food production.

  4. Training /Community Development/Feeding: Organizes, does networking, schedules and conducts the trainings, with target or requesting communities; identifies communities with children who are malnourished and processes training to mothers and child caregivers.

CBHCP created a self-contained farm that gives cure for the ailing Earth, with plants that are utterly open to and formed by cosmic influences from the depths of the earth to the heights of the heavens, with right number of animals to provide manure for fertility, and these animals should, in turn, be fed from the farm, sustains the development of the served communities - and this provides wholeness of the peoples’ health.
